When the media gets a smack-down

I don't like when groups, whether cultural (African-American, Latino, Whitey-white), spiritual (um, Falwellians) or affiliation (Pro-life/choice, etc.) play cheerleader among themselves and celebrate things like "I'm in a class with all {fill in the group}, and IT’S AWESOME!" - that just seems like masturbatory theater and pointless. However, I love when groups can coalesce and find a common message against an injustice. And in this case

GODDAMN RIGHT

Abramoff goes down!

Just a short note of celebration – Abramoff is sentenced to five years! The down side, of course, is that all this was coordinated and timed so that this story will die out long before the November elections. Republicans, unlike Democrats, will gladly manipulate even their own shame, guilt and jail time so as to better benefit their Party at election time. Democrats will go down fighting when they’re busted being corrupt asses, no matter how it affects the Party. Buncha schmucks, all of ‘em.

Update, March style, yo

Just a quick update: I've started a new job, at a good raise from what I was making before and doing exactly what I want to do, so that's all good!

I've also quit politics, as the stress and overcommitment (nobody's fault but my own, but still...) conspired to negatively impact my family, finances and health. I'm sleeping at night and thoroughly enjoying time with my family. I still love politics (my job is in government affairs) but for now, I need to be out of it and get things back together.

That's all, yo. Except for this: R. Kelly's "Trapped in the Closet" is the WORST SONG EVER RECORDED.
